Meet the Artisan

Lisy Lion is an artisan, fashion designer, and creator based in Puerto Rico. As the founder of L.L. by Lisy Lion®, she transforms leather into unique handcrafted pieces that blend fashion, artistry, and craftsmanship.

Her creative journey began in 2007 as a haute couture seamstress, where she developed a deep respect for precision, detail, and the discipline of fine craftsmanship. Working in haute couture taught her the importance of meticulous handwork, patience, and refined finishing—values that continue to define every piece she creates today.

In 2012 she expanded her path into fashion design, presenting her creations in runway shows and further exploring the relationship between form, materials, and artistic expression.

Her artistic practice also includes drawing and painting, disciplines that allow her to express ideas visually and that often-become part of her leather creations through hand-painted designs. Many of her pieces incorporate original artwork directly on leather, turning each handbag into a unique artistic statement.

Throughout the years, her creative exploration has also included the manipulation of metals, better known as silversmithing (orfebrería). This practice allows her to integrate different materials and artisanal traditions into her work, enriching the character and artistic dimension of her designs.

All of these disciplines have helped her develop a distinctive creative vision, allowing her to combine textures, colors, and materials in a way that feels balanced, intentional, and harmonious. This ability to integrate different elements is reflected in the aesthetic coherence and visual richness of her pieces.

Over time, life itself guided her creative evolution toward leather craftsmanship, where she discovered a medium that unifies her experiences in fashion, art, and design. In 2024 she became a certified artisan recognized by the Department of Economic Development and Commerce of Puerto Rico.

The attention to detail learned through haute couture, combined with her experience in design, drawing, painting, and metalwork, is reflected in the quality and character of every piece she makes. Each bag is carefully designed and handcrafted by Lisy herself, ensuring that every creation carries intention, artistry, and individuality.

For Lisy, this journey has been a process of transformation. Her work represents the integration of her experiences as an artist, a designer, and a maker. Through L.L. by Lisy Lion, she expresses a vision where craftsmanship, creativity, and personal evolution come together.
